Not a fan of the Scooby Boxer motor for a powerplant. Engines like that belong in BMW motorcycles and VW Bugs.

Other than that it's pretty sweet.

I like the look of it, but it seems like the ripped off Mazda for the look of the body. Glad to see Toyota making another RWD sports car though.

    Mazda?

Looks like a 370Z Altima to me....

I would rather see at least like a 3 liter v6/camry or IS350 style engine....

Yeah, I don't like the engine choice TOO much but Subaru has had success with it.

So what exactly did toyota do besides toss there badge on it??? This is a disgrace to all of toyota's sports cars. Why let suby make a car for you when you have built soooooo much better. Including RWD and AWD. I would rather toyota stay the king of the econo box.

Ok... end rant... I feel better.

the front end does look kinda mazda, but the rest looks very nissan to me. in a good way. the rear side windows really remind me of the old 240/280z's.

There's a lot more to a car than a motor. Toyota has been trying to tap into the younger market with things like the Scion. Toyotas future was actually bleak for a while in the late 90s early 2000s because the perception of them was about the same as Buick, but more reliable and economical. Sure they're great cars...for old people. Scion was an attempt to recapture some younger demographic which Subaru absolutely NAILED with the WRX's release. Another problem with Toyotas is the aftermarket isn't that fond of them and it takes time with a new motor to R&D and start production of parts for a platform/power plant that will have questionable success. Stick a boxer engine in it and it's extremely practical for a lower hood and has an aftermarket that would be applicable or tweakable to work with the new motor with little cost/risk to the manufacturer. Subaru won't make anything not AWD and I think it's a perfect fit. It's exciting to see no doubt, but a little too futuristic for my liking. With time it may grow on me, but for now I'll stick with Genesis.

Looks like a new hardtop S2000 concept or something. Though I hope the other manufacturers catch on with the lightweight FR idea.

Considering the amount of work Toyota have been putting into the LF-A, I'd be willing to bet Toyota have done a huge share of building up the performance of this car.

WOW! This is first time I actually looked foward to a Toyota product in a long time! I would love to see a 3 liter V6 turbo on it though. Maybe this could be a new Celica.
