It's California, would you expect any less?

and really JDM is just a fad. All it really is is tuned with different fuel in mind and a bit stricter emissions. Internally the engines are the same. But you tell that to some Honduh fanboi and they get all butt-hurt and start ranting and raving about how this and that are better. At what cost I ask? And for what gains?

Though it would be nice if they'd leave the RB engines alone, being we never got any in the states.

Thats quite a load of bullshit IMO. Who cares where the engines are from? As long as they're not stolen no one in ICE should give two shits.

    ^Since always, duh.

Being not a single one was ever crash tested and DOT approved. Though you could get them state certified.
IIRC MotorX (sp?) was in part to all the new seizures. Something with them skirting laws for some time.

Always. I don't really understand the extremely strict DOT laws in the states in some cases. Then again this is America we're talking about where overly strict laws are commonplace.

Where have you been? They have always been illegal in the US period. Only a select few were ever made "legal"(all were R33's) and the rest were brought in grey market and titled as specialty vehicles and kit cars.

Its happening all over including the east cost, they are ICE officials, not a local agency.

Motorex cars are fine, because the R33 was crash test, but that is not the reason they are seizing these cars and motors. The cars and parts were Kaizos cars, the guys that tried to take the whole kit car loophole

Here is a good informative thread including former Motorex employees as well as Kaizo employees.

    http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=554970

This is not completely correct, only R33 were truly legalized, however, Motorex used those crash tests for the R32 and R34, hence them being in pound me in the ass prison. The people with Motorex R34s are the only non show car/track only car street legal R34s

the motor in the 95 tercel we have is from japan. only cost us 400 bucks.

I just think its another way to get the old cars off the road.

sure i don't like new cars but that's fucked up.especially when 75 percent of these cars are equal to or greater in mpg then new cars.

freakin newbs. skylines being seized is OOOOLLLLLLDDDD news.

r34 ILLEGAL- motorex never crash tested one
R33 legal - only if you have the crash test data from motorex and all the things that are REQUIRED to make this car DOT approved (these documents are sealed away somewhere and no one knows everything on the list)
R32 illegal- it was never tested.

this is the first ive heard of motorsets being seized. but it is california and they have stupid strict emissions laws. so i can see this hapening there. that and motor swaps are illegal in cars driven on the road.

should have read all the posts in the thread before posting. lol

most of the motorex cars registered before they got busted are still legal and are referred to as grandfather cars.

and since they are LEGAL, will cost you out the ass.
