Hey guys and thanks in advance.
I have a 63 falcon that im contemplating dropping a 5.0 motor in it or similar, I am not too smart on this sort of thing so before I go to a shop and get talked into what the shop wants I would like to get some insight.

I was initially thinking about buying a beat up 5.0 and just swapping everything over, how hard of a process would this be? Any opinions/ options?

Im sure it would need the proper tranny to the motor setup.

Why not just use a 289 Windsor?

Funny that you say that Bowtie, I just got a 289 so that is what is going to happen.

What do you know about the swap?

The Falcon and the Mustang are basically the same car with different sheet metal. Everything mechanical that will fit the same year Mustang will work in the Falcon. Since you have the 289 go with that otherwise for power and simplicity sake I would recommend the 351 Windsor Ford engine. Get motor mounts for the same year Mustang for the 289 if your Falcon didn't come with a v8 and the Auto trans from any 5.0 Mustang (Ford 302) can be made to work fairly easily unless you want a manual then I would suggest the 5 speed from any 5.0 Mustang all the way up to whenever they switched to the 4.6 this is a easy as pie swap. And a good choice any go fast suspension stuff for the early Mustang will also fit your Falcon.

Thanks mmadden55, that is was I was hoping for. Something simple and as easy as possible, not looking to build a drag car. Just something better then it had.

289 should be fun. From what I hear they wind up really quick
