Well i was a wrestler back in high school and im a brown belt in tae-kwon-do. Well the past few months ive started watching ufc and started getting back into martial arts. About a week ago i started taking brazilian jiu jitsu, and i have to say that its awesome. Im happy that i have a little bit of previous training or else i would be totally lost. haha

So im just curious if anyone one else on here is into any kind of martial arts.

So I am considering starting something just for workout purposes. I figure that I would stick with it more if it was some form of mma because of how much I have gotten hooked on the UFC, and it being with other people. I just have to research which one would be best

muy thai was origionally bareknuckle fighting martial arts that mainly involves the elbows, knees, etc. as opposed to feet and fists. jiu jitsu is pretty much a mixture of tkd and wrestling including take downs, submissions, and a wee bit of punching and kicking :)

I've trained in Muy Thai, BJJ, Tae Kwon Do, and messed around with Judo. I'm a 3rd degree Black Belt in Korean Tae Kwon Do, interm BJJ, AM Judo. I have 2 years in the cage but no octagon yet.

In the brief time that I have done any research on the styles, I have come to the conclusion that I would rather do Muay Thai. It seems a little more attack oriented and a good start. Then I can mix in BJJ and boxing. I am headed out to the Ocatagon in Dallas tomorrow to check out what the benefits of membership are and if this is something that I want to spend alot of money on. I know my body is going to kick my a** for this though. But what the heck, I need it.

yeah muy thai is more fighting oriented compared to jiu jitsu. but jiu jitsu is actually some pretty useful stuff. i know how to break your arm in 5 different ways :)

If i let you get that close! lol j/k I probably would do better trying BJJ first, but like I said, this is for weight purposes first and foremost (6'3, 291lbs, 28 yo). I would have one hell of a time on the ground right now.
