I think it was originally written in gibberish.

Unusual amount of religious talk lately....

What original text? I'll go for some form of ancient Greek for the earliest known copies of at least one of the gospels. And I'll guess that at least one of the 'letters to the ...' now only exists in some latter translation and not in what is believed to've been the original language. Makes me wonder if the various ' letters to ...' were written in their addressees tongue or some common, possibly foreign to both parties, language. If the latter them perhaps they were translated straight away for the recipient's less 'educated' congregation? I seem to recall some claim that one of the psalms may've been an Egyptian prayer originally, shared imagery n'that etc. Either way I suspect that iih possibly already knows the answer. CLIFFS: I dont know but want to speculate, ..., and add Coptic to my list of guesses, ..., not even sure its a language

The Bible is composed of a number of "Books" that were written in a large variety of languages among which are Egyptian, Ancient Persian, Hebrew, Latin, Aramic, Ancient Greek, Phoenician, written between 1500 BC and 130 AD Roughly. May be some bits that are even later.

Easy stupid, don't get ahead of me just yet, lol (btw, the mind reading is getting old, a bit of privacy would be nice once in awhile, ya'know). :brow:

No, I have no clue how many languages the bible was written from, hadn't even bothered to Google it (I mean why when we have so many religious/anti-religious experts right here on RKC). :popcorn2:

My next train of thought though is, how many languages is the Qur'an or the Torah & Talmud derived from? (and would they happen to be the same languages, which is earlier, etc; compare to find real differences if any)

    you get the idea . . .
