Default Farm truck 1/4 mile!

Went to the 1/4 mile track friday night and ran "finally"! Had a couple of d-maxs there wanting to pick on the 6 speed. Beat each of the d-maxs once and got beat once.
I managed to run a 14.77 @ 95.xx, With 5" exhaust, Smarty, and launching in 3rd with stock clutch. Consistantly ran 14.80's about 4 times
I was pretty pleased for 7500lbs

Nice work!
The 6 speeds are tough to race!
What were your 60 foot times like?

yea traction still sucks....have a few plans to help that......and im sure you have slobra but last time i checked the fastest street legal diesel is still a cummins built by drever racing or performance or something like that. What im trying to do is go as fast as i can in a 6 speed andnot be like everyone else using an auto.

I also use mine for towing and i seen the result of dodge against ford towing.

Oh smokin07 my 60ft times are in 2.2 range because im also trying to do the go fast in a 2wd. something else not many people do in the diesels. that the reason for 12v asking about my traction issue

Slobra,
I'd like to see a 4x4 6 speed Powerstoke beat a 14.80 in 2wd. A guy I know has a built up powerstroke complete with nitrous....Here he is running against me....It's not real fast...
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/I...ins_176943.htm

I think there are a few full tilt 6.0 Firestrokes running mid 11's.

Fastest 4x4 is Jimmy Smith's dodge cummins.
Last I heard was 9.440@13.23mph.
http://video.competitiondiesel.com/v...51017f5ec9.htm

Mike Drever's best time is 9.96 or so. He has the fastest full weight common rail....Look for big improvements next year.

My good friend (and mechanic) Malcolm Cross runs a low budget chevy p/u with a common rail 5.9. Malcolm spun his tires all the way down the track to a 150mph record pass. Malcolm is looking for an 8 second pass next year....not bad for a $15,000.00 truck!

Here is the run.

Not saying there aren't some faster Fords around as there are a couple of 11 second trucks....

The Ford in the video is the fastest I have ever seen and is not slow. It's just that its up against a different kind of animal.

FYI an automatic is about 1 second quicker than the same truck with a 6 speed FYI....More if the driver is inexperienced.

What does your SS run in the 1/4?
I always wanted one of those!

SCT chip, 5" exhaust, thats it..... 2WD on 24's, lowered, etc... runs WAY better then 14.77

I went 8.8x in the 1/8th spinning like a champ

i have never had it to a 1/4 mile track. last time i had it to an 1/8 mile track it ran a 9.4 on 7 cylinders and shifting early....and it was over 100 degrees that day

You must have got a freak of nature i have ran two seperate 6.0's with the sct tune........both 4wd, one ran a 9.47 on stock wheels and tires..... the other ran a 9.3x with 33 inch tires and a boosted launch.

All i know is that the cummins has proved itself time and time again.........the biggest thing is that a factory cummings is so choked down as in fueling and the turbo;s potential that its not even funny.

OH btw there was also a 6.0 at the track when i went. 2wd dually 6 speed had 62/14 turbo, fass, and other unknown mods and he "couldnt ever get it to run right". so i never ran him.

Like i said i didnt say i was the fastest or slowest or whatever but im just trying to be like not many others and have a fast ass 6speed dually2WD.

Slobra,

Your comparing a 6 speed 4X4 7800 pound truck running Grandpa's tires against your lowered 6200 pound 2wd automatic with state of the art 24's??
Just checking!

Sounds like a nice truck!
Got pictures?

All the fast Fords seem to run SCT.
Most of the fast Doge trucks run Smartys.
Most quick chevys run PPE or EFI Live.
Banks blows in any brand...Edge not far behind.

LOL BTW my truck at full weight is over 8000lbs sir, and my 60ft's have never been less then a 2.2x. So yes it seems like a fair comparison to me.

And just in case you wanna say its a worthless truck because its lowered here ya go....

not worthless but stick a 5th wheel Rv or gooseneck behind it. but it does the job you want it to!

sounds like you should have bought an auto sir. Granted ive had to build this tranny to handle the power the truck makes with bolt ons only but its worth it. Next step is head gaskets, ARP studs, and im seriously debating on going with a larger turbo

that would be a negative on the auto tranny. Im not an automatic kinda guy..... i pull quite abit of weight and a built auto if fkin expensive! all i need is a 1500$ clutch to handle the power and try to do something others dont want to.

I like being able to dump that clutch in third and leave some hellacious marks without brakes. i just think a stick is fun as hell to drive.

i have to get more air and get more fuel into mine also....i have more level to use on the programmer but i tried it and it ran slower. im thinking loosing fuel pressure bad. i also have another rail pressure, timing, and TM setting that i can go up on with more mods

yeah im just going to slap in some bigger injectors and run a somewhat larger turbo. I havent decided if ill bottle feed it on that combo. Either way its a 7 second 1/8mile truck on nitrous and with the turbo mods it should go very low 8's if i can find some traction

yea i have to get a 150gph pump and some other small things and im pretty sure i can get into the 13's. actually im pretty confident i can even with stock turbo.
my near plans are S&B intake and manifold grid heater delete, and ATS exh man., and a fuel pump. that only about 1k and i think i can get those times. or at least get close without any big labor involved.

Man im glad i dont have to do alot to my truck to get good power. Im honestly happy with how she is now but it needs head gaskets. The way i look at it is if im already in there might as well use better parts

i was going to do a set of custom traction bars but i really dont see the point. IMO racing a diesel is boring. but im used to bikes and cars.

yeah thats understandable. Thats why i got into bikes. you can build a 5/6 second 1/8th mile bike cheap. My truck is used for exactly what its designed for. I pull trailers, and its my daily driver. It just makes enough power to drag some of the stock Fbodys and mustangs out there.

I will be shooting for low to mid 10's this year...Seems fun to me!

I wish you luck with the 700hp thing Slobra...The 6.0 Ford rods, heads, and bottom end, don't like that sort of power....I've seen the results of 700hp attempts before.
It can be done, but the costs are staggering.....It is actually cheaper to install a Cummins.

Nice truck BTW!
I love the lowered look.
