Default Kaiyin/Desired Knowledge Built EJ1: projectSPARTAN 2

Finally brought it home. Cleaned it up and started disassembling the bay getting it ready for a semi-shave/tuck and paint. Need to pick up some more tools tomorrow to get the brake lines out.

paint is Captiva Blue. Don't know what color the bay will be yet. Now to find some BBS RS wheels.

some updates from today.

Whooh, parts!

My buddy from NWP came over to lend a helping hand. Picked up a new wrench set and flare wrench set and got most of the brake lines out and started on the brake booster and clutch master. Need a deep socket set to get the bolts on the other side of the firewall. :hammer:

Should have the bay completely stripped down tomorrow and then start getting the interior together.

a simple, clean, daily driver. Sticking with a d-series for now. Should look nice in a tucked/painted bay. Getting a koni/ground-control suspension setup to get it to the proper ride height, a lot of new suspension components (rear LCAs, front camber-kit and LCAs, EM Racing trunk bars, sub-frame brace, etc). Clean up the exterior; jdm head lights and corners, jdm tails, Spoon lip and sides, carbon hood, and some nice wheels. I want a set of BBS RSs or Sprint Racing CP-Rs.

see reply to Anti-Ricer. The car was painted last year, and might just need to be cleared again. There's a lot of dust on it. The front bumper just needs to get painted. The engine bay will be getting painted. Don't know what color yet.

this car is my inspiration and what I am trying to shoot for. The build on mine won't be this extensive, but this is the look I am going for, just a different color.

yep, I got a couple copies of that issue. Definitely an influential and controversial car, but I love it.

Slammed Hondas are fine. Streched wheels/crazy offsets, however, are just another fad.

To each his own though. Good luck with the build.

hell no. This will be replacing the Lexus as the garage queen. I will try to keep it out of the rain too.

motor plans may have changed again. I want to go k-series if I can. We'll see. Depends on how quickly I want to get this running again. Going to try and drop the sub frame this weekend so I can get that to the powder-coater.

it will get driven a lot, run on regular 92, maybe e85, but I have the truck for snow and in-climate weather. This shell is very clean and I'm going to keep it that way.

daily-driver is about as debatable as the term street-car.

Even if you wanted to, if you model it after the one civic you picuted I don't think you make it over a speed bump, never mind 1/2" of snow up a driveway

call it what it is, your race car, toy, civic. It's not going to be a daily driver. Street-cat, sure.

Has there been a debate thread on this topic here?
