View Full Version : Who is interested in learning about EFI Tuning?
chris@efituningtech 09-11-2009, 12:32 AM As most of you know when I am not tuning I am teaching people about electronic fuel injection tuning. I would like to know how many people are interested on this forum about EFI Training classes? Is it something that interests you? Do you just want a basic understanding or would you like to dive deeper into the subject? What would you like to learn about tuning.
We plan on offering more classes in the future. So give me some feedback and please, serious votes only.
thank you
Chris :)
Tyler 09-11-2009, 11:20 AM i know some basics... fuel tables and maf adjustments, but only for WOT. but i want to know more about that plus all the driveability and stuff.
Irocthestreet 09-11-2009, 11:47 AM i wish this were in my state. im always down to take some more technical classes
FunkyStickman 09-11-2009, 12:05 PM I've got HPTuners, I know how to use it and am familiar with most everything in it on my car. I've read quite a bit on their forums, but there's always things I don't know... I'd love to learn more.
rwhockey29 09-11-2009, 12:09 PM id like to learn about it, but i think i need to finish normal auto classes first lol

The classes are offered all over the country! Not a problem my friend. We also teach in other countries. I have held classes across Canada and England.
Your area would not be a problem if we see that there is enough interest to hold a class.
Let me know if you are interested and how many other people would commit to this. We can make it happen!
Thanks for the feedback guys!

This...still got one more semester to go.
Junkie 09-11-2009, 12:42 PM I would love an opportunity to do something like this in the DFW. Would really like to learn how to mess with my AEM on the Viper.

I can help you on both ends! I can tune the car for you and teach you how to do it yourself. :)
Thanks for your input!

humm712 09-11-2009, 02:50 PM I would love to learn about EFI tuning, what do the classes you teach typically cost and how long are they?

It'll already have a tune in it, but id love for us to look over it and me learn all i can. When would you be doing this?

Hello!
Depends upon what class, but our basic class is priced around $500 dollars and is held over a weekend. We have had a few thousand people attend that class over the past 7 years. It is by far the most popular.

88_ZX 09-11-2009, 03:54 PM does this apply to both distributor and DIS applications?

Hello,
Part of a new class concept that we may be rolling out will include an entire section on ignition systems. The class would cover components, theory, set-up, operation, calculating proper dwell time (coil charge time), By the time you are through with the class you will have a good understanding of Distributors, Coil on Plug/Near Plug(DIS), Waste Spark Ignitions, Capacitive Discharge Ignition systems and much more.
thank you for the feedback

iminhell 09-11-2009, 08:31 PM Voted "more than just the basics", but a class focused on just the fueling side isn't what I'd be looking for. IMO participants have to understand the combustion process, some degree of thermodynamics/fluid dynamics and physics to really "know" what they are changing by tuning.
From the few vid's of seen of Chris's work (IMO) he does a good job at covering this in teaching what MBET is and how it affects power, etc. Deeper into theory in this subject would be a good class I think.

Thank you for your honest feedback!
I agree, as a prerequisite, future classes would require a basic understanding of the tuning process in general along with understanding of the thermodynamic process, theory and practical application.
Future classes would be geared toward the guy or gal who has had some former education/classes geared towards internal combustion theory. Or, for the guy who has a background in the automotive industry and of course the ME and double E guys and gals.
The classes we offer will never discriminate against non engineer types nor be at a collegiate level. But, they will not be entry level. :)

mike93civic 09-13-2009, 02:23 PM I heard about these classes a few years back, and was immediately interested in attending, but never had the time or funds to follow through with it. I would kill to learn even just basic EFI tuning.
svt4u2nvy 09-13-2009, 02:29 PM wait, you mean you cant just put on a blower and take it to the strip?

chris@efituningtech 09-13-2009, 08:06 PM Jared,
I see that you voted but did not leave any additional feedback. Do you mind giving me some feedback as to your vote?
The feedback helps tremendously. Positive/Negative/Indifferent all helps.
thank you,
Chris
