I just installed a Phoenix Gold Octane-r 5.0:1 amp in my truck with 4ga wire to it. I have it hooked up to my sub with 0 volume and it was bassing like crazy. I had to cut the key off.

I messed with the settings on the back of the amp to get it to stop by turning the Crossover Frequency up to 300 but of course I lose bass to my sub.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to what is causing the feedback to my sub? Bad ground? Pinching a wire cause this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

that or it could be a bad ground. I had the same problem it was my ground wire, try that first then try the RCA cords

Maybe. Those 'Kotas don't have much interior space though, so good money says his RCAs are running right along with the power cord and it's interfering with his amp.

Nope, the power comes from the drivers side and the RCA's come from the passenger side. The amp is under the passenger side seat.

I have it grounded to a bolt on the seat. Maybe I need to knock some more paint of the bolt?

If you call a ground to the seat part of the chassis, then you are correct. I have always ran my grounds to a bolt on the seat on other stereo systems.

I'm going with ground or RCA's.

File some paint off on the seat mounts. I always ground to the seat in a smaller vehicle with no problems. It's hard to exactly pinpoint it without hearing it though.

Welp, all three of us were wrong but I may have called it out in my OP. I found it to be a pinched speaker wire.

I had it coming up through the hole in the carpet on the back bolt. Well it was under the seat mount and damn near cut it in two when I cranked the bolts down.

I repaired it and moved the wire location.

Thanks again for all of your help!
