Hi all,

I thought you might be interested in the evolution of my sleeper project. I started to post in the newbie section, but thought I would move it here.

It is a Cummins powered 2007 Dodge Ram.
Here it is in street trim doing what it does best...Well it also tows things pretty well!
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Insane-Twin-turbo-Cummins_176943.htm

Here is the shakedown dyno run with the new turbos/fuel system....We popped a head gasket and had a wastgate that opened too soon (pardon my 11 year old son's video skills). Some "O" rings and a better wategate setup should increase the power significantly.
http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u223/d200x/Truck/?action=view&current=BlownHeadgasketRunZensport.flv

Here is the graph
http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u223/d200x/Truck/?action=view&current=Zensport7303.jpg

The 1715ftlbs of torque @ 2350rpm tells me that I should make my 900Hp objective....Then we can add the 2 (500hp) shots of nitrous!

I will keep the thread updated if there is any interest.

Holy shit! The 07's are the newer Cummins right?

6.7...? no?

Its a CR 5.9

The truck is an early 2007 so is a 5.9.
The 6.7 came out later in 2007.

Twin turbos and dual CP3 pumps (high pressure fuel pumps).

I think I resolved the boost issue today. I need a custom bracket made then I will try another dyno run.

Bracket for what?

I'm going to temporarily block the waste gate.
My turbos are prototype BD units and the wastegate BD supplied starts to open at 42psi....It's a real junker.
They are working on a replacement that should be ready in a few weeks.

The turbos are a balanced pair that function off of a single waste gate. Primary turbo rpms are good until 120psi....At this point the primary is attaining critical speed and is in danger of scattering.
Optimum boost pressure at my targeted horsepower will be around 100-110psig....

So in theory my turbos will be safe without a wastegate....

definately one of my favorite motors ever
my friend wants to TT his cummins
...since he's being beat by a neutered supra

i plan on geting a ported and polished head with fire rings n head studs good for at least 65 psi of boost. is ur head ported and what not too?

Cummins12v,

Yes, I have removed the factory intake side of the head and replaced it with a custom intake so we could thoroughly port the head, but this was done to reduce boost pressure (120psi makes a lot of heat)....not for a direct performance gain.
I also run a performance camshaft, but that was done to improve turbo spoolup and to reduce egts

Diesels are counterintuitive to gas motor thinking.
Plain and simple add fuel and make more power.....
The primary purpose of the fancy twin turbos and all the other intake crap is to keep things from burning up.....

I have very little 12v experience, but I do know whatever head gasket system you use it needs to be done by someone with diesel experience.
Then held together with good quality (usually ARP) studs.

Good luck with your build.

Good luck with your build. sweet man! i really want to see what intake ur speaking of so i can get an idea. I might not actually do it but its still nice to see or know whats possible. and for my project i definetly plan on ordering a head by PDR or Dominator diesel that way theres less of a chance of it going wrong and they are coming with a fully dressed head with 60lb springs (finally 4000rpm but obviously i need a fluiddampr) and the gaskets are included so again less of a chance of something going wrong. im definetly going for arp studs, so no skimping on cost on this part of it. Unfortunately as we both know it cost money so ill be wating a while for that to happen

Here is the intake I used.

It is the only Banks part on my truck.

Will try to take some shots tomorrow.

sounds like a pretty comlexed turbo setup. but the rest of it seems pretty run of the mill for high HP. Im curious as what the "cap the rail" and the rail mod are.
your electronics are basically exactly what my plans consist of. TNT and boost fooler already there.
more than likely for now im going to be going with a big single...something like silver bullet or so being is my first goal is to break 700whp

Also with the 4.4 and nitrous injectors what are you meaning.

Oh and where are you from so if i run into ya i know to back the F off!

1997 what size turbo do u plan on going with because i think the silverbullet is a 62 (correct me if im wrong) and if im not mistakein most 62s are rated for only around 500 hp

smokin that intake is sweet. i think its sad that they dont make one of those for the 12v guys. I mean its not like we cant make crazy hp

The actual "silver bullet" is a 66mm turbo and thats the one i plan on going with. Industrial injection claims it to support "over 800hp". They make a 62 64 and 66mm in the silver series. the 62 is rated for 650hp, 64 for 700hp.

The high pressure fuel rail has a factory blow off valve that needs to be capped for continued high performance (Once the factory BOV starts to leak it is screwed). You need a rail pressure gauge and some understanding/respect for what goes on under the hood before you undertake this mod.

4.4 is an injector size made by F-1 Diesel....Good for about 875Hp (fuel only).
The nitrous injectors are also made by F-1. They inject more fuel so you can inject more nitrous....Well over 1000hp kind of stuff.

The Industrial Injection 66 is not my idea of fun to drive....There are more streetable and easier ways to make 700hp.
BD's R-700 twin turbos probably being the best bang for the buck. They are a blast to drive and only look complicated.

BD also makes a small towing twin that I also owned....Nothing can beat them in terms of explosive throttle response and brute power up to 600hp or so.
I stretched mine to 722Hp, but I don't recommend doing that.....Things got warm in a big hurry!

Here is the Banks intake...No power here, just boost reduction and better airflow distribution.

Thats kinda what i figured on the 4.4's. 3
Only problem with twins is the price tag.

Im going to have to do a little reading up on the caping the fuel rail.
I pretty much have the understanding and respect just lacking the experience.

yea twins are sweet but the price killed it for me.. i think with the right amount of fuel u can get single spool pretty quick.. im planing on trading my 90hp injectors for 140s just to see if i can get the 64 to spinn up any faster (i think its quick enough already but just for the heck of it)

A capped rail is not that complicated you just need a rail pressure gauge and then need to make sure it doesn't go much over 24-26Kpsi. If you over do a capped rail system expect some expensive repairs.

Bd has well setup turbos that can be bought as you go.
If you are looking for 6-700Hp buy the super B single then add the primary (larger) turbo and pipe kit. The tow twin (575Hp rated) and R-700 primary (700Hp rated) turbos are the same cost....Just make your choice when you run into the spare money.....It is that simple.

If you want 850Hp or more BD has the pay as you go plan there too, but to be honest the twin turbos are just the tip of the iceberg on an 850Hp truck.
Get your wallet out if you want to go here.

I thought I'd update you on my latest "progress"....Okay call it a setback!:lmao:

This is what happens when you set up a diesel too tight (mainly turbos in this case).

I should have it up and running again by the end of January...Though it could take a while to buff out the damage!:)

So do you have a single moded CP3 or dual pumps with a modded cp3? Kind of confused on what you were meaning

One stock CP3 and one stage 3 (floor-It) CP3.

With the PPE dual kit (one stocker/one stage 2) my new injectors were pulling down rail pressure to about 18Kpsi.

Lots of fuel there!
