Was a good time but the cops were just waiting for us to leave, He followed me and a supra out on 94 and then pulled him over, not sure why since we didnt do a damn thing wrong

they claimed he had done donuts in the parking lot. a cop came and questioned me about it. i told him i never saw anything which was true and commented about how if there were donuts being done there would be tire marks which of course there were none. he took my DL and wrote all my information down in a complaint form. not sure why since i was just standing there. I simply told him i lead the group here and do not allow anyone to do that here. he then questioned us about having permission to be there and siad the store managers don't matter and we need permission from the property managment company. Maple Grove is becoming way to big a pain to hold the meets. we do nothing wrong but get hassled. i think it is time to look for something a little more remote or a city where the buildins are not leased from management groups and are owned by the businesses. I plan on doing some digging around on this i find it odd that he can put me down on a complaint form when i did nothing but approach his vehicle and answer his questions. he cops in this town apparently have nothing better to do. i find it interesting that about 30 minutes prior 2 squads rolled in and said they just wanted to look at the cars and then not long after we are being hassled for a ficticious claim. the Maple Grove police are aware of this website for sure as of now so make sure and behave extra well.

the supra got a ticket for no front license plate. the whole issue came up around a complaint of someone doing donts in the parking lo. which is a blatant lie. thyey never have a complaintant standing there to prove there actually was one. for all we know the cops made up the fact that there was one just to start trouble which in all likelyhood is the case.

I hate Maple Grove cops. I've been bothered so many times (pulled over in my Evo for no front plate ticket during that last Rogers' tornado, mega U-turn for tint-good thing I had Utah plates on it still..., followed, plates probably ran ,(he was tailing me hard)) by them I just try my best to avoid the area altogether.

I've actually had pretty good luck with the MG police. We had problems with fraud and they worked really well on the case!

I would say that something like the Public Library might be a good spot, or some place where there is food, such as the Chipotle area (Lee Ann Chin, Cold Stone, Panera) because there is great spots to park and plenty to do in that area. You would think because of the higher amount of traffic the police would not be as so concerned because they would know there wouldn't be "room" for behavior such as what is suggested.

Plus, we could pick up dinner there... look at me talk... haven't even been out yet and I'm yappin! I haven't been driving the Porsche much... I love my 35+ mpg high 14 second Saturn right now :-)

My vote is in for Nick's store, the Mike's Discount lot @ the Fridley location off of University and Osborne Rd. Its a perfect size lot for us but as Aaron said, the cops in Fridley are pretty bad. But they are going to be no matter what city in the burbs we have our meet at. I don't know, we should definitely solitify 2 solid meeting spots and then start a poll on which location we all like best and that will determine where our new meet spot will be. I say the sooner the better unless everyone agrees on just saying fuck em and stay put where we're at. But from the responses we are getting, maybe the time is now to get the hell out of dodge. This is private property and we can have it here. We have a front and back lot that can hold 10 times the cars we would need it too. Along with losing a few we already have cause of the drive.

I just want to throw out there that a lot of people know exactly where our meet is now. Word of mouth is spreading on this particular spot. As long as the group is ok with losing that % that only knows the spot, then go forth with the move.

What happened to distance not mattering? :confused: The only problem I have is with the location being on the north, and south side is 35W being down, and the pain of finding a hwy to reach for whoever is on the opposite side of that. 494/694 is the only reason it made MG somewhat not impossible to make for myself. Uni is prime for a reason, because it's dead center of the cities. Lots to do, lots of newcomers I would imagine.Closer to minneapolis is the center of the region. Also if we meet at uni what's the point of weekend meets. Also for anyone on this end that's driving through traffic the whole way down 94. Anyway the location here is closer to the cities. Why not just pick a public park parking lot? Those stay open till like 10 pm? We usually leave before then anyways? You can always say you're doing other things at a park. Makes it easier to do other things as well... like bbq's, throwing the ball around, etc. Might make it less easy to be kicked out as well?

i agree that didtanc eshould not matter if you are really dedicated but at some point it does become a factor once it is an extreme distance ie 2 hrs or more each way to hang out for a few hours. alot of the active people are not close to the meet. funny thing is a large portion of the active people live well to the north of the circle you have on the map. half of the cities we live in are not even on the screen becasue thay are too far outsde the boundries.

I know you think the meet is in our back yard marcus because it is a long ways from you, but it really isn't i drive about a half hou or so to get there and jeff comes even further than I do from bufalow along wth tanner dalbec and others. Stealth07 and redcobra vert are another hour north of me yet. i really don't think we have any one concentration point of members which is why is is so hard to get a meet spot close to everyone. at this point it is about being central and in an area where we won't have issues getting permission to be and where the cops can't hassle us for no reason.

Troy aka Bluepony said he has permission for us to meet at his work in coon rapids and the own their building, the lot and all the surrounding bussuness properties as well. he said the lot is private and the cops cannot issue tickets on the property. it might be somehting to consider with easya ccess off of hwy 10.

i drive 20 minutes or so to the meet,just thought I'd get that out of the way.

now even it they live in stillwater it is still about what a hour and 15 min away from the meet. I think If there where people out there that where on the forms and wanted to go to MG they would have mo problem. we are in a grate loccation. alot of population, and alot of traffic. The citys are close enough that if people wanted to make the drive they would have no problem.

I was refering to if we have the meets at uni on Mon then what's the point of weekend and vise versa. If the meet moves to Uni a ton of already existing members won't make it. We should cater more to those who have earned than those who haven't. And I tell you what, if we start showing up there on Mon.s we'll get hassled just the same as the grove. The cops there tolerate it on the weekends do you actually think they will during the week?

I'm down there usually twice or three times during the week. Not including weekends. Lots of car clubs have their meets during the week there.


With all that said. A lot of clubs do have multiple meets, but RKC isn't strong enough to hold multiple meets per week. If we do that, only 5 show up to each meet instead of the what? 30 we had Monday.

Hey I know I havent made the last few events. (to much goin on) But Cant you hang out at a park and ride? I know back in the day ppl would sit at target in elk river and the cops would kick them out and would say If you guys go to the park and ride thats fine. So I would think we could go to a park and ride. I like the MG meet area (cops are assholes) Or the sounds of a new one in coon rapids.

Or an idea switch it up. I know every 3rd Wed calvers in elk river has a car show then every other wed i think there some where else like rogers, otsego. Maybe we should do that have it at a spot in MG then coon rapids, then ???some where else??? Just rotate it 1st mon (MG) 2nd mon (coon rapids) 3rd mon (???) You guys know what i mean

Coon Rapids sounds like a good move to me if we have permission whether it is a temporary one or not. That will make my ~45 min drive closer to an hour or hour 15. It's to bad the MG location took such a dive it was a nice location. Anyway thought I would throw my 2 cents in.

i would definitely come to the meets if they were in Coon Town.

coon rapids sounds good for me. I work in coon rapids now so I could just skip on over after work.

if people really want to try and stay in MG I can go and ask the managers/owners of The Lookout bar and grill in MG, or Mama G's if they would let us park there.
both restaurants have car shows there once and a while so they might be ok with it.

I've been by there before. The parking lot would be perfect. There is a big Freedom gas station right across the street to the east, a Perkins Restaurant just behind the building, less then a half block south and a Dairy Queen and a Coffee shop, I think Carribou, right across the street to the north so we have plenty of business to provide to all of them. We could take a cruise over there after the Monday night meet if you guys want. It's less than 15 minutes east of Maple Grove. :thumbsup:

I think showplace would suck balls, all the food places round their are shit.

I think riverdale is a safe bet, tons of places to meet and eat

Yeah, you could throw ONE more MG one and discuss with everyone there in person where the new meet place should be, that way you get the input from people that actually show up to the meets but may not show up on here too much.
