I'm looking to get into a diesel truck. I just found this one : 2000 Chevy 3500 4X4. Since I'm fairly Diesel ignorant what can you tell me about these motors?

Not sure what you are asking. As they say, "Google is your friend." What do you want to know?

I'm more familiar with the Dodge Cummins engine, but Ford and Chevy offer good engines also. There are tons of aftermarket performance parts for all of them, whether you are into 4-wheeling, towing or racing.

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT buy that truck. especially not for that price, you can buy a decent 7.3 ferd or a cummins for that and you will be alot happier. if you have any specific questions ask em, but to answer your original.. DONT DO IT!

Thank for the responses. I was just curious. I guess I have to a look for a cummins or spend the $$$ for a duramax.

You won't be disappointed in the Cummins. Rock solid and lots of potential.

Get a new Cummins and get to know your dealership better, lol..... They are JUNK
The 6.0l is close to it in quality but both are crap...
The old 7.3l Fords or the 12v/24v Cummins in a old body are the best diesles for the $$
