the reason that the hemi's dyno so low is because of this peice of shit tranny that is behind it.

it drops about 28% + hp through drive train loss. its rediculous.

a friend of mine dynoed 270 rwhp on a chassis dyno and then they pulled his motor when they was doing a conservitive stroker motor build with a small cam, built for loooots of nitrous, they dynoed it when it was stock, on a engine dyno, without the tranny and it dynoed 346/360 with stock manifolds and 87 octane thats 28% loss, then they put his cold air and long tubes on it, and it dynoed 373/387. all on 87 octane, then they put 91 in it and dynoed 384/397.

after they built his engine, he didnt have the money to dyno it on engine dyno, but he dynoed it on the chassis dyno and it put down 412/440 n/a and 498/540 on 100 shot. so he is 527 flywheel hp and 563 flywheel tq n/a and 637flwheel hp and 690tq on 100 shot

its all in the tranny

yea see that the only thing that kills me too tranny. even though i have a shift kit. i suck at 40 pulls but can rock from a stop. and my truck i can beat a hemi, done it many times, its all in the tranny and thats one thing dodge needs to work on, turque converters help too,

Damn, that big ol' 454 only came with 230 hp, they left a lot of power on the workbench for that one. No headers here, just cat-back, Mopar CPU, for the time the prev owner had...not bad for minor upgrades, I added MSD, and a filtertop K&N, have a high flow cat...in my bro's garage, almost did a super-charger but bought a house instead....that was a mistake, now I have no money :lol: now that it is almost (only 600, left to pay) paid off, I should (hopefully) have some extra cash to put into it...intake and cam hopefully soon

parish was weighing in at around 4500 lbs with 1100hp and 1000tq.

you need lots of power to hang with him, not to mention he was all wheel drive.

txst is pretty quick as well, well faster then 14.5. he is probably runnin LOW LOW 14 or high 13 faster even if he had gears.

i am high-mid 13's with NO traction. but that should change shortly

after this tranny goes out, i may be swappin to t56. cost about the same for a bad ass rebuild as it would to buy parts and swap a t56.

besides, that sts turbo will sound and run better on that 6speed. OOPS, let my plans outta the bag. lol

As long as the right turbo is used for the right application, and mounted/installed properly, it can be an acceptable setup..

well veg, i dont want a supercharger, because it is instant hp and tq. as soon as you crack the throttle. that is hard on these slush boxs from dodge.

even a front mounted turbo, will hit pretty hard, not to mention the amount of heat under the hood. i want a rear mounted turbo, for the space saving design, and the added lag that i will get from the extra distance between the heads and the turbo.

the truck has lots of tq already, couple that with the stall converter, and a turbo. man, it needs some leeway somewhere. so thats where the sts comes into play.

i know, its not as good as a front mount, but it will be more practicle for a street driven torquey ass truck with street tires.

the boost will be there, regardless, and yeah it takes a lil longer, but this is a v8, not a 4cyl remember. i dont need no more tq on the street and i got the converter for the track, so all i need is more midrange and top. AKA THE TURBO.

Just say you really want an STS.

The arguement you make for why is not legit.

Other than space and ease of install you have know real advantage to put the turbo back there.

The underhood heat is not as bad as you think/say.

If you want lag then go bigger on the huffer and then make even more on the top end.

About the tranny being a slushbox and so you don't want to hit it too hard. - You better look at getting a bit beffier then. If your tranny cant handle some power down low (not at lugging speed though) then it will eventually have problems up top too.

Traction Problems can be fixed. I took this truck to HRP and ran 1.62-1.71 sixty foots.

2wd 6780lbs with a 950lb cummins diesel sitting on the nose fighting weight transfer. On Radials not slicks. (About 1600lb ft on the torque)

well, if that makes you hate me, then what type of friend would you be.

sts has proven to make good power on these hemi's, with EASY install.

and yes you are right about the difference in lag, but the longer exhaust pipe will cause a lil bit more lag, because it has to compress more gas to do spin the impeller the same, not to mention the heat loss from the added area of pipe, and also the sts has a benifit over front mounted turbo's, the added distance from the turbo to the intake, allows the compressed air to cool off more, which in turn lowers intake temps, alowing you to run a lil bit more boost at the same intake temps.

i am just like anyone else, i like hp, but i would like to do it and not have to buy or build custom headers, and all to have a front mount. sure there is plenty of room, but the added time and cost of building the headers is not worth it to me right now.

everyone can down dodge all they want, say all they want about their tranny, but they got the bad wrap when they came out with the older body trucks with the newer tranny. the reason for all the tranny failures is because no one knew that you had to use mopar ATF+4 fluid. which wasnt sold in stores untill not too long ago.

it is documented that the people that had their tranny serviced at the dealership DID NOT HAVE ISSUES.

other then that, their vehicles were just as good as others in most perspectives.

all makes and models have problems. big deal.

the hemi engine is a strong performer, which is proved by the engine dyno.

a stock hemi, with a fairly small cam compared to most ls1 cams, headers and tune put down 490hp

not bad on 87pump gas.

also, for this lil thing to push 5k lbs to mid 8's with just a small cam and headers, is no small feat.

hate all you want, but i feel good about my "piece of shit, slow, ragedy ass" mopar.

oh and vej, get to know me and you will forget about the damn sts, its just a performance option. damn
